A note of history
The Monaco Grand Prix is one of the oldest and most prestigious races in the world. It is the most glamorous, prestigious, and popular Grand Prix and above all the one every driver and team dreams of winning.
Created in 1929 by Antony Noghès, the Monaco circuit, laid out through the heart of the city, has retained almost its entire original layout, a narrow and winding track, making it one of the most demanding and dangerous circuits on the Formula 1 World Championship calendar. The Monaco circuit is 3.367 km long.
Formula 1 racing flags originate from the early automobile competitions of the early 20th century, where they were used to communicate with drivers before the era of radios.
The Monaco Grand Prix, with its unique street layout, has always placed special importance on these visual signals, carefully orchestrated by its famous race marshals. Among them, the checkered flag, which appeared as early as the 1910s, remains the ultimate symbol of victory, majestically waving over the finish line of the prestigious Monaco circuit. It was during the 1934 Monaco Grand Prix that this flag was officially established as it is recognized today.
