A TALENTED WATERCOLOURIST

Through her watercolor drawings, this artist offers us a gentle and poetic perspective of the contributions of Prince Albert 1st, the explorer, scholar and navigator prince. Its boats carry us away, its dolphins accompany us and the compass rose guides us towards elusive horizons full of discoveries.

A note of history

Albert I (1848-1922), is one of the most enlightened princes of his time.
He is nicknamed "the Learned Prince" or "the Navigator Prince" because of his abyssal love for science and especially for the oceans.

A true Jules Verne character, he conducted no less than 28 scientific campaigns, from Spitsbergen to the Azores and in 1910, he inaugurated the Oceanographic Museum.

Also passionate about prehistory, the Prince founded a museum of Anthropology in 1902, to exhibit his discoveries there.

A convinced humanist and pacifist, he dreams of participating in the improvement of the world: He creates the International Institute of Peace.

For him, progress must be at the service of man and this ideal of well-being for humanity does not prevent him from keeping a distance and sometimes being aware of the limits of industrial progress, by its possible attacks on environment and biodiversity.

Albert I undertook profound political, economic and social reforms.

The Prince is at the forefront of the avant-garde and brings Monaco into modernity: He endows the Principality with a Constitution, expands the port, creates a hospital, a high school, a library...

This multifaceted Prince, through his humanism, his patronage, his art of governing, his scientific curiosity and his pioneering awareness of environmental issues, greatly contributed to the influence of his country.

A MALICIEUX OF EXCEPTION

Its elongated shape provides an original base for the drawings in each of our collections.

A technological prowess allows to reveal the most delicate details and the most demanding color patterns.

Its box, its case, red, the color of Monaco, is made in the Principality of Monaco from FSC certified paper from responsibly managed forests.

The "Prince Explorateur" Malicieux is part of the ephemeral "Prince Explorateur" collection, a clever silk band that celebrates in drawing the centenary of the death of a great prince of Monaco.

The silk

This precious shiny filament, obtained by unwinding the cocoon of a silkworm, naturally requires very high quality production conditions.

Very sensitive to the quality of the environment, the silkworm does not tolerate pollution and only feeds on fresh leaves. Its breeding requires a know-how of excellence: our craftsmen have selected the best sericulture farms.

Preserve the beauty of your Mischievous. Store it flat and untied or in its original box rolled up on itself. Avoid contact with your perfume. Entrust the cleaning to a specialized professional.
